The High Court in Hyderabad issued notices to film actor and TDP’s Hindupur MLA Balakrishna in Gautamiputra Satakarni’s tax exemption case. The High Court has asked Balayya to file his counter within two weeks.
A PIL has been filed against Balakrishna in High Court saying that the state governments did not follow transparent norms while granting tax exemption to Balakrishna’s prestigious 100th film GPSK and also the amount that has been saved from tax exemption should be given back to the audiences. Rudhramadevi director and producer Gunasekhar too received the notices and that film also has been exempted from tax.
Nandamuri Balakrishna who is currently busy with the shooting of his next film in the direction of Puri Jagannadh had scored his career’s biggest hit with Gautamiputra Satakarni, which released during Sankranthi this year. The movie has been given tax exemption in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Balakrishna personally met the Chief Ministers of AP and Telangana and thanked them for waving the entertainment tax of Gautamiputra Satakarni.
Balakrishna is yet to respond to this and the complete details of the same would be out shortly.
