Mahesh Babu received a huge setback from Nampally criminal court on the plagiarism case of Srimanthudu movie. Novel writer Sharath Chandra had filed a plagiarism case against the makers of Srimanthudu movie saying that they had copied his original story but not acknowledged him anywhere. He alleged that the movie story is copied from his 2012 novel “Chachentha Prema” which was published in Swati weekly magazine.
The court had asked the entire Srimanthudu team to be available with their counsel on the hearing date. The lawyers of Mahesh Babu had filed a counter petition in the court to exempt the Mahesh Babu from personal appearance in this case as he is not involved in writing and directing of the story and he is very busy with his commitments currently.
After hearing the arguments from both parties, the Nampally criminal court summoned Mahesh Babu saying that he must be present in the court during the next hearing since he is also the producer for the movie. Now the actor has no other option than visiting the court personally and present his side of arguments.
