The Sankranthi festive season had started for everyone, except Amala Paul. The Kerala High Court has ordered Amala Paul to appear before the Crime Branch Police on January 15, 2018. This is regarding the case that was registered against the actress for the alleged tax evasion on the purchase of her luxury car, Mercedes Benz S Class.
The court gave authorization to Crime Branch Police to question Amala Paul on January 15 between 10am and 1pm. Earlier, the Kerala Crime Branch had summoned Amala on December 19th, 2017 to appear before them, However, the actress did not appear quoting busy shooting schedule. The Crime Branch then submitted the report to the government counsel on January 5th, 2018 asking for court’s order as the actress was not cooperating for the investigation.
According to police, Amala Paul used fake documents to register her car in Puducherry to evade the 20 per cent tax in Kerala on luxury cars costing Rs 20 lakh and above. Amala Paul had purchased an S class Benz worth Rs 1.12 cr on August 4 last year. The vehicle was registered in Puducherry, for which Amala had paid only Rs 1.75 lakh as tax, saving nearly Rs 20 lakh.
