Mahanubhavudu Review : Swach Comedy

Film: Mahanubhavudu

Rating: 3/5

Director: Maruthi

Cast:  Sharwanand, Mehreen Pirzada

Producer: UV Creations

Release Date: September 29, 2017

Lately Sharwanand has been delivering alternative hit films in his career. If one of his film becomes hit, then the next one is turning out to be flop. After the hit movie “Run Raja Run”, then came his flop “Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju” and after the hit “Express Raja” came another flop “Rajadhi Raja” and finally after blockbuster movie “Shatamanam Bhavati” then came “Radha”. So let’s see whether this pattern still repeats with Mahanubhavudu as well.

Plot:

Software Engineer Anand (Sharwanand) struggles with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). He comes across his office colleague Meghna (Mehreen Pirzada), who also likes to keep things clean. Soon both fall in love with each other. However, Anand’s obsession with cleanliness turns into villain for him and brings complications into his love life and seperates him from Meghna. He moves to Meghna’s village to convince her and iron out their issues.

However things don’t turn out to be as easy for him in that village. He is forced to be in environments where there is neither hygiene nor cleanliness. How did Anand survive in that village where cleanliness is next to impossible? Did he come out of his OCD disorder for the sake of his love? Is what the remaining story is about?

Review:

Director Maruthi, who delivered a disaster in the name of “Babu Bangaram”, is back with a bang with Mahanubhavudu. He again proved that it’s the content that maters the most than anything else for a movie. The movie starts with the flashback and shows the Sharwanand’s OCD life mixed with proper comedy. The production values and Nizar Shafi's cinematography are major highlight for this movie. SS Thaman, after a long time, had given some nice songs and BGM for Mahanubhavudu.

First half goes on with love story between Sharwanand and Mehreen Pirzada in their office Ituram solutions with engaging screenplay and hilarious comedy that makes fun of Sharwanand’s obsessive-compulsive disorder. And finally ends with interesting interval twist. Second half shifts to village backdrop where Sharwanand’s is forced to be in places where he hates to be the most and tries to get back his lady love by winning a kusthi fight. Vennela Kishore again comes in for rescue and adds comedy touch to the story, while hero is suffering with his weakness.

Sharwanand completely shouldered the movie and bought believability to the Anand’s character. His comedy timing and expressions were fun to watch in this film. Mehreen Pirzada had got another interesting role where she got to show both her glamour and performance. Vennela Kishore is as usual at this best in generating good amount of laughter. On the whole, this movie, as expected, had become the winner of this Dusshera season.
