Vijay Mallya, Ex-King of Good Times who is currently having a bad time, on Thursday informed to the Supreme Court that he does not have money to pay Rs 9,000 crore that he owes to the banks.
The banks went to Supreme Court to direct Vijay Mallya to pay Rs 267 crore, which he had received from Diageo, multinational alcoholic beverages company. Vijay Mallya informed Supreme Court that the government authorities had attached all of his assets, and hence he had no money to pay back to the banks.
The Supreme Court asked the government if there are any processes under the criminal law to bring back Vijay Mallya to India. Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the consortium of banks, said the Centre was looking into it and would take steps accordingly.
